GreetWidgets connection setup
Widget drafts work now. Live connections and publishing remain closed while the provider setup is completed. Customers will eventually connect their accounts through GreetMode; they should not need to create developer projects.
What customers can do today
- Create Google review or Instagram widget drafts under Your sites.
- Choose layouts, palettes, headings, and responsive display settings.
- Preview clearly labeled fictional content and save an inactive installation snippet.
No accounts are connected and no reviews or media are fetched by the draft editor. Never enter passwords or access tokens into widget fields.
For the GreetMode operator: Google
- Open Google Cloud project creation and create a project named GreetMode Widgets. Keep the project ID and project number; these are not secret keys.
- For the direct Business Profile API route, Google requires a verified profile you manage that has been active for at least 60 days, a corresponding business website, and an API access application. An authorized client's profile can qualify. Check the current requirements.
- If eligible, submit Google's Business Profile API access request for this project using an owner/manager account. Wait for approval before treating the integration as available.
- After approval, configure the APIs and OAuth consent screen. Credentials and exact callback URLs will be added with the connection implementation; there is no working Connect Google flow in this draft release. Google OAuth guide.
If you do not yet manage an eligible profile, direct API approval is blocked. A Places API route may support a limited review display, but has separate billing, content, and attribution rules. Do not enable billable Maps APIs for this project until we choose that route and agree on usage limits.
For the GreetMode operator: Instagram
- Open Meta for Developers and register using your own account. Complete Meta's requested identity/account steps yourself; do not share credentials here.
- Open My Apps and start a GreetMode app with the Instagram API use case. Meta's dashboard labels may vary. Use the official Instagram API documentation to select Instagram Login for Business/Creator accounts.
- Arrange a professional Instagram account you control for initial testing. The Instagram Login route does not require a linked Facebook Page. App roles/testers and customer access must be reviewed before public rollout.
- We will request only the read permissions needed for media display. Public customer access may require App Review and business verification. Privacy, data-deletion behavior, secure token storage, callback handling, disconnect, and refresh tests must be ready before enabling customer connections.
Save the app ID for the next step. Keep the app secret and access tokens private. A pilot connection is available to configured launch testers in Your sites → GreetWidgets dashboard → Instagram account. The callback is https://www.greetmode.com/api/integrations/instagram/callback. Operator credentials are entered privately through SSH, never in chat.
Disconnect and delete Instagram data
In Your sites, open the GreetWidgets dashboard, check the Instagram connection, and choose Disconnect Instagram. This removes the stored account connection and encrypted access token. You can also revoke the app in Instagram’s Apps and websites settings. Contact us through the GreetMode contact page for account-data deletion requests.
Before live widgets open
- Verify provider access and actual business/account ownership.
- Test authorization, expiry, refresh, revocation, and customer disconnect.
- Implement required attribution, content retention rules, and consent controls.
- Test actual embeds, accessibility, allowed-site checks, usage limits, and the $4.99 subscription.
No scraping or credential sharing is part of the planned integration. Google and Instagram do not sponsor or endorse GreetMode.
