Live chat without per-agent pricing: one flat bill

Per-agent pricing makes sense for call centers. For a shop where the owner answers chat between jobs, it means paying seat math for a seat of one — and watching the bill jump the month someone helps out. This page explains how flat pricing works instead, across the eleven dimensions owners compare. GreetMode's facts are verified below; rival pricing models are described only in general terms — check any platform's current pricing page before deciding.

1. Best-fit customer

Flat pricing fits solo owners and tiny teams where one or two people answer everything. Per-seat models fit staffed teams where seats map to shifts and headcount. If "support staff" isn't a phrase you'd use, you shouldn't be metered like you have one.

2. Monthly cost

GreetMode charges Standard $14.99/month for up to 3 sites and Multi $19.99/month for 4–6 sites (7+ sites: custom plan via /contact), billed monthly through Stripe. The number on the pricing card is the number on the invoice — month one and month twelve, quiet months and record months alike.

3. Per-agent fees

There are none — no per-agent fees and no per-conversation fees. Add a helper for the holidays, hand replies to a partner, survive your busiest week: the bill stays $14.99 or $19.99. Seat-metered platforms typically charge per agent per month, which is fair when seats are the product but expensive when the "team" is you.

4. Number of websites

One subscription covers a portfolio, not a page. Standard includes up to 3 sites and Multi includes 4–6 on one owner dashboard, with 7+ sites on a custom plan via /contact. No per-site surcharges, no per-domain add-ons — add a site, paste the snippet, done.

5. Installation

Flat pricing pairs with flat-effort setup: one script tag per site — https://www.greetmode.com/widget-1.js with your site id in data-site — pasted into HTML, a WordPress footer, Squarespace Code Injection, or Wix Custom Code. No plugin to maintain, no rebuild, typically live in about five minutes.

6. Replying from your phone

Every plan includes the same web-only owner inbox, working in any phone browser with deliberately no app to download. Seat-based suites often gate their best mobile apps or advanced routing behind higher tiers — with flat pricing, there's no tier to outgrow for basic reply-from-anywhere.

7. Live human chat

GreetMode is live human chat only — visitors type, you reply, per-site threads sync through the backend. No queues, routing, or departments, and no usage meter running on conversations. Some platforms meter conversations or resolutions alongside seats; here a busy month costs exactly what a quiet month costs.

8. AI automation and bots

There are none — no AI automation, no chatbots, every reply typed by a human, by design. This matters for pricing honesty: many "per-agent" bills are really "per-agent plus automation add-ons plus AI-credit packs." Flat human-only chat has no packs, tiers, or meters to manage.

9. Offline message capture

Flat includes the safety net: your open/closed hours drive the online/offline display, visitors leave messages when you're away, and unread badges plus reply alerts make sure you follow up. No "offline capture" upsell, no ticketing add-on — it's in the same $14.99 or $19.99.

10. Integrations

GreetMode integrates with nothing — standalone snippet plus inbox, no CRM or helpdesk connections, and therefore no integration tiers to climb. If chat must feed your systems automatically, a seat-metered suite with connectors is the honest pick despite the higher bill. If you run on a phone and a notebook, flat-and-standalone wins.

11. Support-style features

Every plan includes canned replies for repeat questions, chat color matching, and open/closed hours, with contact via the /contact form. No feature-gating between Standard and Multi beyond the site count — the only question is how many sites you run.

Who should choose which?

Choose GreetMode's flat pricing if: you answer chat yourself, you want the invoice to read $14.99 or $19.99 every month regardless of helpers or volume, and you can be live in about five minutes (pick a plan, pay through Stripe, set a password, paste the snippet).

Choose per-agent pricing if: you're staffing support across shifts, need routing, roles, automation, and reports — and the seat math genuinely maps to people doing shifts. At team scale, per-seat can be good value; below it, it's overhead. See the broader tradeoff at our alternatives hub.
